Happy 2018!!

Hi my long neglected internet friends! I’ve missed you, and this little space.

The end of 2017 was a hard one.  The schedule was overbooked and I lost my dear sweet Aunt Linda to brain cancer at the beginning of December.  So I enjoyed the rest of the month with family and the slower pace of no school and the Christmas Holiday.  I trust you enjoyed yours, and that you are ready to “bring it” to 2018.

I’m starting off the new year with the cliche’d goals!  I’ve never sat down and actually written goals for the year.  But for some reason I heard a lot of talk about it and decided to jump on the bandwagon.  I’ve got personal goal, financial goals, spiritual goals, physical goals, and FUN goals.  Why do so many people forget the fun?  I don’t ever forget it but sometimes I have to schedule it.  So that’s what I’ve done.  I’ll spare you the details in every category, but I have set a couple that I’ll most likely share here.  I’m back on the running train after a long, long break.  I’ve had a few runs interspersed here and there but I’m jumping back into half marathon training and I feel good!

And now for the more lofty goal – refined sugar to me is that boyfriend you break up because you know he’s a bad boy, but then you go back to him because you love him.  Yeah, that’s me and refined sugar.  Notice I said “refined” sugar.  He’s the bad boy.  I’m keeping coconut sugar, honey, aguave, and the like.  They’re not near as naughty. Well, I broke up with sugar Jan 1, again.  But this time, I mean it.  He sucks the life out of me and I’m over it.  Now I might say hello every now and again, but I am definitely not getting into a relationship with him again.    So this year, when I find an amazingly sweet dessert that is absent refined sugar, I’m going to post ithere.  And I have a ton to try.  I can’t wait to get your feedback!

So this year on the blog you can expect a lot of the usual – running, family, and food.  But I plan on throwing a few other fun things I have cooked up too.

May your 2018 be full of fun, laughter, and some refined sugar absent tasty treats!
